Adrea Cocagi

Adrea Cocagi started playing at six on the island where he was born, and left for Italy at eighteen. Stade Français took him into their academy the following spring.

Centre at Castres, 1.85m and 109kg, born at Nuku in Fiji on 1 March 1994.

He played fourteen matches for L’Aquila in the Italian championship. At Stade Français he made no Top 14 appearance at all in 2013-14, getting six Challenge Cup matches and a try instead, and dropped to Pro D2 with Tarbes in 2014.

Perpignan signed him in March 2016 for the following season and extended him to 2020 a year later. In December 2018 he was banned for nine weeks for a dangerous shoulder charge on Connacht’s Matt Healy in the Challenge Cup. He was a Pro D2 champion with the club that year, and went up with them.

Castres took him in June 2020. He extended in April 2022 for three seasons and again in May 2024, to 2026, and was in the side beaten in the 2022 French championship final.

He is currently out injured, and expected to be for some months; Castres signed Atu Manu in December 2025 as his medical joker.

Fiji picked him for the 2014 Junior World Cup and capped him on 12 November 2022, against Ireland in Dublin, at 28. He was in the extended squad for the 2023 World Cup and did not make the final group.

At 109kg he is a heavy midfielder even by the standards of a Fiji back line, and the job he does at Castres is the physical one: get over the gainline, and be difficult to move when the other side has the ball. Six seasons at one club says it is being done well.
