Rugby league tables: how they work

How do rugby union league tables work?

Teams earn 4 points for a win, 2 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Most competitions add bonus points: one for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one for losing by seven points or fewer. Teams level on points are separated by points difference in most leagues.

How does URC scoring work?

The United Rugby Championship uses the standard system: 4 points for a win, 2 for a draw, plus a try bonus point (four or more tries) and a losing bonus point (defeat by seven or fewer). The top eight sides at the end of the regular season qualify for the play-offs.

What do the table columns mean?

P is games played, W won, D drawn, L lost. PD is points difference (points scored minus points conceded) and Pts is total league points including bonus points.

How often are these tables updated?

Every table on this page updates automatically after each completed round of fixtures, using official match data, so standings are always current.
