Clement Mondinat

Clément Mondinat kicked six goals from six attempts against Wales at the 2023 junior world championship and was named man of the match. France won the tournament. He then lost most of two seasons to injury.

Fly-half at Pau, 1.78m and 80kg, and 22 years old.

Born in Toulouse and raised in Marseillan, he started at under-six level at Pouyastruc, moved to Tarbes, and joined the Pau academy in his second year as a cadet. His first official match came in the Challenge Cup at Brive, at eighteen.

Antoine Hastoy’s departure opened the door. He and Thibault Debaes were identified as the club’s future at fly-half, and he made his league debut in the 2022-23 season.

The injury list from there reads badly. A knee operation after a sevens tournament cost ten weeks. A fractured thumb followed in February 2024, at a point when his club had Joe Simmonds injured, Debaes out on loan and one fit fly-half left. He came back in December 2024, played four Challenge Cup matches mostly at full-back, scored on his one league appearance in February 2025 and hurt a hand in the same match, then hurt the other hand in April and lost the rest of the season. A loan to Agen was discussed and fell through over the contract.

On 28 December 2025 he came on against Montpellier after Aymeric Luc was injured and scored twice, his first Top 14 tries, in a 35-33 win. He was man of the match again.

A goal-kicking ten who can cover full-back, with a junior world medal, a run of injuries that would have finished a less durable career, and a first full season still ahead of him at 22.
