Feleti Kaitu’u

Feleti Kaitu’u has played three Test matches for Australia and won all three. Two against South Africa and Argentina in the 2021 Rugby Championship, and no defeat on his record at that level, which is a distinction almost nobody keeps for long.

Hooker, 1.83m and 110kg, and 31 years old.

Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, he began professionally with Queensland Country and moved to the Western Force in 2018, winning the national second-tier championship with them in 2019. The Wallabies call followed the 2021 Super Rugby season.

The Force then made him captain, and Australia A picked him for the 2022 Pacific Nations Cup against Fiji and Samoa. After the 2023 Super Rugby season he crossed the Tasman to play a provincial campaign for Tasman in New Zealand, which is an unusual move for an established Wallaby of 28.

France came in September 2024, and in the least secure way it can. He was signed as a medical joker, cover for two injured hookers, Janick Tarrit and Camille Chat, on a contract that exists only while somebody else is unfit. He stayed for two seasons regardless.

The Test record deserves one qualification. Three caps in a single Rugby Championship, all won, is a small sample and he was never recalled after it, which suggests Australia saw him as cover rather than as a contender. It is still three from three.
