About Julián Montoya
Julián Montoya had won 51 caps for Argentina by 2018 and started four of them. Agustín Creevy had the shirt. Montoya is now one of four Argentines to pass a hundred caps, and captained the side to their first ever win on New Zealand soil.

He came out of the Newman club in Buenos Aires, played for the Pampas XV in 2015 and won the Pacific Rugby Cup with them, and made his Super Rugby debut for the Jaguares in 2016. Gloucester tried to sign him in 2017 and he stayed. The franchise reached a Super Rugby final in 2019 and was removed from the competition two years later.
Leicester took him in 2021 and won the Premiership in his first season, with Montoya starting the final alongside Ellis Genge and Dan Cole in a match decided by a Freddie Burns drop goal. He made the league’s team of the season in 2023 and lost a final in 2025.
Argentina made him captain in June 2021, in place of Pablo Matera. On 27 August 2022 he led them to a 25-18 win over the All Blacks in Christchurch. He captained the side through all six of their matches at the 2023 World Cup, and won his hundredth cap against Australia at Santa Fe in September 2024, scoring in the first half of it.
Pau announced him in June 2025 on two seasons. A hooker of 115 caps arriving in the Top 14 at 31, with fifteen Test tries behind him.
