About Justo Piccardo

He scored four tries in a single Top 14 match in May 2026, seven months after arriving in France.

Justo Piccardo scored four tries against Montauban on 9 May 2026. Four in a match is rare anywhere and close to unheard of for a centre in the Top 14. He had been in France for seven months.

He plays centre for Montpellier, is 1.83m and 105kg, and is 24.

San Isidro Club produced him and he began playing senior rugby in the Buenos Aires championship in 2021, alongside age-grade rugby for Argentina. That is the orthodox Argentine route, and it is slower than the academy systems elsewhere: club rugby first, professional rugby afterwards. The Pampas took him into Súper Rugby Américas at the start of 2024, and he started the final of that competition in his first season, losing 37-23 to Dogos XV.

Argentina capped him within months, in a defeat by Ireland. The match that changed his market value came in June 2025, when he started against the British and Irish Lions and played well. He was recalled for the Rugby Championship, and by then several European clubs were interested. Starting a Lions Test at twenty-three is the kind of afternoon that settles a transfer market.

He arrived in October 2025, once the Rugby Championship was finished, and signed a three-year extension two months after that. His first full season ended in a French championship final.

At 105kg he is built for the collision-heavy midfield the league favours, and the four-try afternoon suggests there is more to him than that. Twenty-four years old, with the Pumas shirt already secured and the hardest league in Europe as his working week.
