Marius Domon

Marius Domon started playing rugby on Saint-Barthélemy, an island of about 10,000 people. The Guadeloupe development centre took him at fourteen, he won an Antilles-Guyane title with their selection in 2016, and a French champion club signed him as a schoolboy.

Full-back at Toulon, 1.83m and 85kg, and 24 years old.

The Barracudas de Saint-Barthélemy had him from 2008 and Saint-François on Guadeloupe for a season after the regional call. A federal sevens detection camp at Tours followed in 2019.

His chance arrived through an unusual set of absences. In February 2021 Toulon had Anthony Belleau injured, Louis Carbonel and Baptiste Serin away with France and Duncan Paia’aua suspended, so Patrice Collazo and Julien Dupuy pulled him into first-team training. He was not used against La Rochelle. The following week he made the bench at Pau, came on in the second half, and helped win the match. He then tested positive for Covid and could not follow it up.

Four years of squad rugby later, in April 2025, the club gave him a first professional contract to 2028. That gap is the honest measure of the career so far: one substitute appearance in a crisis, then four seasons of training with a squad carrying full internationals at his position and waiting for a second chance that a three-year deal now guarantees him.

The 2025-26 season ended for him on 4 April against the Stormers, when he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

A counter-attacking fifteen whose route into the Top 14 almost nobody takes, and whose next season is a rehabilitation rather than a campaign.
