Nikoloz Narmania

Nikoloz Narmania was born in Moscow, moved to Georgia at six, played age-grade rugby for Georgia, and was then capped by Russia. Few careers begin with that many national questions attached to them.

Note on his current club: Narmania is still listed in Toulon‘s squad data. He left the club with immediate effect in mid-February 2026 and returned to US Carcassonne to finish the Pro D2 season.

Prop, 1.86m and 125kg, and 25 years old.

Both of his parents are Georgian and the family moved back when he was six. He started playing there, passed through several clubs, and settled at RC Armazi, the club that produces a large share of the Georgian front row. Georgia picked him at under-19 and under-20 level.

France took him at twenty. Carcassonne signed him in 2020 and gave him four years of second-division rugby, and in 2022 Russia called him up to play Spain in the European Championship, which is the cap that decided his international future.

Biarritz had him in 2024 and Toulon the year after that. The move up did not last. He played three matches in half a season and left in the middle of February, going straight back to the club where he had spent most of his career.

Half a season in the Top 14 and three appearances is a short return on a transfer, and at 25 there is time for a second attempt at it.

A heavy, orthodox tighthead of the Georgian school, back in the division where he has done all his best work.
