Remy Baget

In January 2025 Rémy Baget scored three tries against the Bulls in a 49-10 Champions Cup win. Later that month Fabien Galthié put him in a forty-two-man France squad for the Six Nations. He did not play, and he has still not been capped.

He is a wing at Castres, 1.82m and 89kg, and he was born in Albi, in the same département.

He started at four at Rabastens Coufouleux and stayed until 2013. Sam Lacombe, the Toulouse espoirs coach and a Rabastens man himself, brought him to Toulouse, where he played until he was 21 while also turning out for Gaillac.

Bayonne signed him for Pro D2 in 2018 on Éric Artiguste’s recommendation to Yannick Bru. He played six matches as the club won promotion and none of the play-offs. He was the leading try-scorer in Pro D2 in 2022 with fifteen, and won the division twice, in 2019 and 2022.

Castres brought him home in June 2024. He started the opening round against Racing 92, scored the following week at Toulon, and kept the shirt all season despite heavy competition. He scored twice at Bayonne in December, three against the Bulls in January, and two more against Benetton in a Champions Cup last-sixteen tie in April.

Twenty-seven starts in twenty-eight appearances, and twelve tries. For a wing who had spent six seasons in Pro D2 and on the fringes of a Top 14 side, that is a complete reinvention at 27.

Northampton knocked Castres out of Europe the week after the Benetton game and he had a poor afternoon. Top 14 ended in a play-off defeat to Toulon.
