Setareki Tuicuvu

Setariki Tuicuvu started at full-back for Fiji against Scotland at Murrayfield on 10 November 2018. He broke a bone in his foot and came off after twenty minutes. He has not been capped since.

Full-back, centre or wing at Toulon, 1.75m and 94kg, and 30 years old.

He began with Nadi in the Fijian domestic championship and came to France in November 2015, into the Clermont academy by way of Nadroga, the academy that also sent Napolioni Nalaga, Noa Nakaitaci and Peceli Yato to the same club.

His league debut came at Castres in March 2017 and his first start in a win at Lyon two months later. A French championship followed with Clermont that season, and a losing final in 2019.

A loan to Bayonne in March 2020 produced no matches at all, because the pandemic ended the season first. Brive then used him heavily for three years and extended him in March 2023, and he left three months later when their relegation was confirmed.

A World Cup joker contract at Toulon followed, the short-term kind that covers absent internationals, and he played well enough to be extended twice, most recently to 2028.

Fiji have come close to using him repeatedly without doing it: a reserve at the 2018 Pacific Nations Cup, in a fifty-man World Cup group in 2019 but not the thirty-one, in a forty-six-man group in 2023 and out when it was cut to thirty-nine.

A three-position back with a French championship medal and one cap, in his fourth season on the Mediterranean coast.
