Thomas Souverbie

Thomas Souverbie scored the first try of his professional career in the eighty-first minute of the final round of the 2024-25 season, at Vannes. It secured a bonus point. Nothing else about his career so far has been that dramatic.

A scrum-half, 1.75m and 79kg, on Pau‘s books at 22.

Born in the town, he started at Bizanos in 2009 and joined the club academy at thirteen. Mikaël Drouard moved him from fly-half to scrum-half, which is the decision the career has been built on.

France called him into an under-20 camp in January 2023 and he started an unofficial match against Italy six days later, but did not play in the Six Nations that followed. The junior world championship in South Africa followed a year later.

His senior debut came in Durban, of all places, on for Thibault Daubagna against the Sharks in December 2023. A league debut followed in March at the Stade Ernest-Wallon, again for Daubagna, in a match lost in the final minute.

Dan Robson’s injury gave him a run in 2024-25, including a first start in Europe against Newcastle. On 5 October 2025 he started a Top 14 match for the first time, at Mayol against Toulon, and played well in a defeat.

The queue at his club is the shape of the career so far. Thibault Daubagna has more appearances than anyone in the club’s professional history and Dan Robson has played for England, and a 22-year-old learning the position behind those two gets his rugby in Europe and in the last twenty minutes.

A small, quick nine learning the position behind an international and a club record-holder, which is a slow way to develop and a thorough one.
