Vincent Rattez

Jacques Brunel named Vincent Rattez as a reserve for the 2019 World Cup and then left him out of the final squad without giving him a warm-up match. On 4 October, with the tournament under way, Thomas Ramos withdrew and Rattez was called to Japan.

Note on his current club: Rattez is still listed in Lyon‘s squad data. He joined Nissa Rugby in 2026, on two seasons, after their promotion to Pro D2.

Wing, 1.81m and 89kg, born in Colombes on 24 March 1992.

He went through Gennevilliers, Paris UC and Racing before joining Narbonne in 2011, and was schooled at the Collège Georges Braque in Paris on its rugby programme, under Serge Collinet, in the same intake as Wesley Fofana, Félix Le Bourhis, Stephen Parez and Jacques Boussuge. He also joined the navy in 2011, for two seasons, while starting his professional career.

Narbonne gave him six Pro D2 matches in 2012-13. He scored his first two tries against Auch on 7 December 2013, and finished an eighty-metre counter-attack in a semi-final against Agen.

France capped him twice against South Africa in June 2017, and the federation added him to the protected Élite list for the following season. He was La Rochelle’s leading try-scorer in 2018-19 with nine.

Montpellier signed him in June 2020 on three years. He scored their only try in the 2022 semi-final against Bordeaux-Bègles, inside six minutes, and started the final they won 29-10 against Castres. That was his second trophy there, after the 2021 Challenge Cup. He played 26 matches and scored five tries that season.

He has nine caps and one try, one Six Nations in 2020 and the one World Cup.

Lyon signed him in May 2023 on two years. He leaves at 34 for a newly promoted second-division club, which is the ordinary end of a good career rather than a fall.
