Transfer: Sevu Reece – Perpignan Pull Off a Massive Signing

Transfer Sevu Reece signs with Perpignan in major Top 14 transfer move

Transfer Sevu Reece – Perpignan Land a Huge Signing

Perpignan have made one of the biggest moves of the transfer window by securing All Blacks winger Sevu Reece on a three-year deal starting next summer. Despite the club currently sitting last in the Top 14, the 28-year-old has committed to joining USAP and will make the switch regardless of whether the Catalan side stay up or drop into Pro D2.

Reece, one of the most dangerous finishers in world rugby, has scored 22 tries in 37 Tests for New Zealand — including two against Wales just two weeks ago. His record at the Crusaders is even more remarkable: 66 tries, the highest total in Super Rugby history.

USAP President Teased a Major International Signing

During last Friday’s pre-match press conference, club president François Rivière hinted that a major announcement was coming between Christmas and New Year.
He described it as a signing that “will surprise a lot of people” and proof that USAP “still attracts big names,” adding that it would be a high-profile non-JIFF recruit.

That mystery player is now confirmed to be Sevu Reece — a significant coup for a team fighting at the wrong end of the table.

A Long-Term Building Block for Perpignan

As first reported by France 3 and later confirmed by L’Équipe, Reece has signed through 2029 and is expected to arrive in Catalonia in mid-2026. Sources close to the club say the deal will stand even if USAP are relegated, underlining the strength of the project being built in Perpignan.

At a time when USAP have collected only one point from eleven league matches, securing a player of Reece’s calibre sends a clear message of ambition — and gives supporters genuine reason to look ahead with optimism.
