Andy Bordelai

In June 2024 Vannes beat Grenoble in the Pro D2 final and became the first Breton club ever promoted to the Top 14. Andy Bordelai was in that side. He had already agreed to leave for Bayonne five months earlier.

He is a prop, 1.86m and 115kg, born in Paris on 29 March 2000.

He learnt the game at Rugby Créteil Choisy in the southeastern suburbs, then went through the Massy and Racing 92 age groups. He was in the Pôle France in 2019-20 and played three matches in the 2020 Under-20 Six Nations.

Racing gave him a debut on 22 November 2020, on for Hassane Kolingar with two minutes left at La Rochelle. His second appearance came a week later, against Bayonne. That was more or less it — two matches in four years at the club.

Vannes took him on loan in July 2021. He scored his first professional try against Grenoble that September, made the move permanent at the end of the season, and signed his first professional contract there in May 2023, for a single year. Then the promotion.

Bayonne announced him in January 2024 for the following summer, on two seasons. He scored his first Top 14 try at Lyon on 26 October 2024, and in October 2025 they extended him three more years.

A prop who spent four years on the fringes of a big Parisian squad and had to drop a division to get a career. He is 26 and now contracted to 2028, which suggests Bayonne think the second half of it will look nothing like the first.
