About Gabin Lorre
A sixty-metre drop goal against Rouen and a ninety-metre try against Dax, in a thirteen-try season in the division below.
Gabin Lorre dropped a goal from sixty metres against Rouen and scored from a ninety-metre run against Dax, in the same season. He was playing in the division below.
He plays for Lyon, is 1.80m and 81kg, was born on 23 December 2001 and grew up at Lodève in the Hérault.
He started at four years old at RCO Salagou. Montpellier trained him, then the Stade Piscénois, and in 2019 he joined the Béziers Crabos.
Béziers brought him into the professional group for pre-season in the summer of 2021, with friendlies against Mont-de-Marsan and Narbonne. His Pro D2 debut came that season against Oyonnax at the Stade Charles-Mathon. Eight matches, two tries.
He studied for a BTS in client relations at Narbonne and played for the France universities side, scoring in a one-point defeat to England in April 2022.
The second season gave him regular rugby, on the wing and at full-back, eighteen matches and seven tries. The third produced thirteen tries and a long list of assists, many of them for Raffaele Storti. Béziers extended him to 2027 mid-season and Pierre Caillet moved the Spain international Charly Malié to fly-half to keep him in the side. They lost the promotion semi-final to Vannes.
Perpignan and other Top 14 clubs came for him that summer. He stayed at Béziers for another year, then signed for Lyon in a transfer agreed in November 2024.
Eight matches, then eighteen, then a thirteen-try season, then a year spent turning down the promotion he had earned. It is about as clean an upward line as a Pro D2 back can draw. Whether the finishing survives the step up is the only open question.
