About Léo Barré
His father, his grandfather and his great-grandfather all played for the same club in Versailles. He started there at six.
Léo Barré is the fourth generation of his family to play for the Rugby Club de Versailles. His father, his grandfather and his great-grandfather were all there before him, and he joined at six.
Full-back at Stade Français, 1.89m and 89kg, and 24 years old.
Le Chesnay in the Yvelines is where he was born. Massy took him at under-12s and the pôle espoirs at Lycée Lakanal in Sceaux followed in 2017. Le Parisien named him the best young prospect in Île-de-France rugby in June 2019.
The federation had him from under-17 level. At sixteen he went to South Africa with the under-18s, formed the half-back pairing with Nolann Le Garrec, and scored inside three minutes of a 43-19 win at Stellenbosch. He started at centre against England next and came off the bench against Wales, and France lost both narrowly.
A junior world championship at seventeen was there for him in 2020 until lockdown cancelled the tournament. That summer he moved from Massy, then in the third division, to their Top 14 partner club in Paris on two years and an option.
His debut came at Bordeaux in February 2021, on for Adrien Lapègue with a quarter of an hour left. The French Barbarians picked him against Fiji in 2022. After 2022-23 he was nominated at the Midi Olympique awards for both the senior and the young player of the year.
France capped him in Cardiff on 10 March 2024 and has started him every time since: nine caps, nine starts, four tries, and a Six Nations title in 2025. Paris extended him to June 2029 in August 2024, four years before the deal he was on ran out.
