Pierre Fouyssac

Pierre Fouyssac played for the France sevens side as a prop. He plays centre. At 1.89m and around a hundred kilos he has spent his career being the wrong size for one job and exactly the right size for another, and coaches have never quite agreed which.

Note on his current club: Fouyssac is still listed in Clermont‘s squad data. He was injured in the fourth round of 2025-26 and not retained at the end of it.

He was born in Agen and started at US Lavardac Barbaste after doing judo as a child, joining the Agen rugby school as a cadet and working up to the first team. He made his professional debut in 2015-16, eleven matchday squads and ten starts, several of them on the wing.

France used him across formats. He played the 2015 Under-20 World Championship, won a European title with the France development sevens side in 2014, and reached the senior sevens squad that same year.

Toulouse signed him from Agen to fill a midfield emptied by Florian Fritz, Yann David and Gaël Fickou. In June 2018 the French Barbarians took him to New Zealand, and he started against the Crusaders in Christchurch and the Highlanders in Invercargill, losing both.

Then the injuries started. He played the first three matches of his first Toulouse season well, damaged a posterior cruciate against Racing 92 in the third, tried two months of rehab and had it operated on in November. Season gone. In 2022-23 a medial ligament sprain cost him five months, and when he came back he was covering in the back row because Toulouse had nobody else.

He won three French championships there, in 2019, 2021 and 2023, without ever being a regular in the knockout side. He did not play a minute of the 2023 final and got a medal anyway.

He joined Top 14 rivals Clermont in 2023-24, and Anthime Hemery was originally signed as his medical joker.
