Ugo Seunes

Ugo Seunes was 23 and playing third-division rugby when Blagnac went into liquidation at the start of 2024. Aurillac took him into the professional game that summer. In January 2026 Fabien Galthié named him in a 42-man France squad.

Fly-half at Racing 92, 1.82m and 75kg, and 25 years old.

Agen is his home town and its rugby school gave him the game at eight. He went to Blagnac in 2018 because he was studying in Toulouse, and played more than seventy matches for them across five seasons in the third and fourth tiers.

That first professional season was remarkable for a player with no background at the level. He started all twenty-four matches he appeared in and scored 188 points: seven tries, five drop goals, twenty-two conversions and thirty-six penalties. He took over the goal-kicking that November and worked on it with Jérôme Miquel, a former Agen fly-half.

The match people remember is the play-off against Chambéry, in which he dropped a goal from fifty metres and directed the game.

Racing signed him with immediate effect in the summer of 2025, on a contract to 2028. The Top 14 is his third division in three seasons.

Three divisions in three seasons is the part that has no real precedent. Players do move up from the amateur game, but almost always through a second-division apprenticeship of several years rather than one, and almost never straight into a France squad at the end of it.

He is light for a modern ten at about 75kg and plays with more risk than most. He names Thomas Ramos, Finn Russell and Rupeni Caucaunibuca as the players he watches, which tells you enough about the intention.
