Kings Park holds 52,000 and is the Sharks’ home ground in Durban, a few hundred metres from the Indian Ocean. Sea-level humidity makes it the most physically distinctive venue in South African rugby.
Kings Park capacity
The stadium seats 52,000. It carries the Hollywoodbets naming rights and has been the Sharks’ base since the current ground opened in 1958.
Who plays at Kings Park
The Sharks play URC and Currie Cup fixtures here. The Springboks use it for Tests, and the All Blacks faced the Sharks in Durban on 11 August 2026 on the Rivalry Tour.
Conditions
Unlike Ellis Park and Loftus, Kings Park is at sea level. Humidity and a heavier ball tend to favour forward-led rugby, and visiting sides often name it the most uncomfortable South African venue to play in.
