FMG Stadium Waikato holds 25,800 and is the Chiefs’ home ground in Hamilton. Waikato have played on the site since 1925.

FMG Stadium Waikato capacity

The ground seats 25,800 after a redevelopment completed in 2002 that replaced the old terracing with four stands.

Who plays at FMG Stadium Waikato

The Chiefs play Super Rugby Pacific here, and Waikato use it for the NPC. The All Blacks have played Tests at the ground, though Hamilton is not part of the regular Test rotation.

Ranfurly Shield rugby

The stadium’s reputation was built on Waikato’s Ranfurly Shield tenures, when challenges filled the ground and the Mooloo cowbells became the sound most visiting sides associate with Hamilton.
