About Fabian Holland
Fabian Holland is a 204cm Dutchman who moved to New Zealand as a teenager specifically to become an All Black, which is a more unusual sentence than it sounds.
He was born in the Netherlands and relocated to Otago at 16 to pursue a professional rugby career in a country that does not lack for locks. Serving the residency period and then breaking into the second row of the country with the deepest stocks in that position is not a normal outcome.
He is a genuine lineout presence at that height and has been notable for the volume of work he gets through — high tackle counts for a young lock, and a willingness to do the parts of second-row play that do not appear on a highlight reel.
He came through the Highlanders, where he has been a regular since his early twenties.
