About Wallace Sititi
Wallace Sititi went from uncapped to New Zealand’s Player of the Year inside a single season, which does not really happen.
He came into the All Blacks in 2024 and was immediately one of the best forwards in the side — a back-rower with genuine acceleration, an offloading game that works at Test intensity, and the size to play in the tight channels without being moved backwards. Very few loose forwards arrive that complete.
His father Semo played for Samoa, and Wallace was eligible for both. New Zealand’s back-row stocks meant the decision was not obviously the safe one at the time.
He came through the Chiefs, where he had been developing steadily rather than spectacularly, and the step up to Test rugby appeared to suit him more than Super Rugby had.
Injury interrupted the season that followed, which is the usual tax on a young forward who plays as physically as he does.
