About Andy Farrell
Andy Farrell has been Ireland head coach since taking over from Joe Schmidt after the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and in June 2026 he signed an IRFU extension that runs to the 2031 World Cup. A dual-code international who captained Great Britain at rugby league before switching codes, Farrell built his coaching reputation as a defence specialist with England and Ireland before stepping up to the top job. He led Ireland to the 2023 Grand Slam and back-to-back Six Nations titles, and took a sabbatical to coach the British and Irish Lions on the 2025 tour, with Simon Easterby holding the Ireland reins in his absence.
