Eddie Jones returned to Japan as head coach at the end of 2023, a decade after his first spell in charge produced the country’s most famous result, the 2015 World Cup win over South Africa. One of the most experienced coaches in the game, he has led Australia and England at Test level, taking both to a Rugby World Cup final, and was a technical adviser to the South Africa side that won the tournament in 2007. In December 2025 the Japan Rugby Football Union confirmed he would remain in charge through to the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
