About Geoff Parling

Geoff Parling is the head coach of Leicester Tigers, appointed in May 2025 on a long-term deal and taking charge from that August as Michael Cheika’s successor. He won a trophy in his first season.

Born in Stockton-on-Tees in October 1983, he was a lock who made more than 300 senior appearances across fifteen years with Newcastle Falcons, Leicester, Exeter, Munakata Sanix Blues in Japan and the Melbourne Rebels. He won 29 England caps and played three Tests for the British & Irish Lions on the 2013 tour of Australia, and took three Premiership titles as a player, two of them at Welford Road.

Coaching

He began as lineout coach at the Melbourne Rebels in 2018, then became Australia’s forwards coach in September 2020, working under Dave Rennie and later Joe Schmidt and staying with the Wallabies through the 2025 Lions series. Returning to Leicester as head coach was a homecoming.

Style

Parling is regarded as one of the game’s foremost lineout and set-piece technicians — the detail work that made him a Test lock is the core of his coaching. Leicester beat Exeter 66–14 to win the PREM Rugby Cup in March 2026, his first trophy as a head coach.
