About Gregor Townsend
Gregor Townsend took over as Scotland head coach in 2017, succeeding Vern Cotter after four seasons in charge of Glasgow Warriors, whom he led to the Pro12 title in 2015. A former Scotland fly-half who won 82 caps and toured with the British and Irish Lions, he passed 100 matches in charge of his country during the 2026 Six Nations, making him the longest-serving Scotland head coach of the professional era. Scottish Rugby extended his contract in September 2025, keeping him in the role through to the end of 2027 and the World Cup cycle.
