About Laurent Labit
Laurent Labit is the sporting manager of USAP Perpignan, appointed in November 2025 and extended through to June 2030. He is not the head coach — Mathieu Cidre was promoted to that role for 2026–27, working under him.
Born in Revel in May 1968, he was a back who played fly-half, fullback and centre for Castres, Colomiers, Béziers and Bordeaux Bègles. He was capped by France Under-23 and France A but never at senior level.
The partnership
He formed half of French rugby’s most durable coaching double act with Laurent Travers. Together they won promotion with Montauban, the 2013 Top 14 with Castres, and the 2016 Top 14 with Racing 92 alongside two European Cup finals. He then joined Fabien Galthié’s France staff, architecting the attack of the 2022 Grand Slam side through to the 2023 World Cup, and was rugby director at Stade Français until early 2025.
Perpignan
USAP called in November 2025 with the club bottom of the Top 14. He kept them up and has since rebuilt the entire staff around Cidre, Nicolas Mas, Joe Worsley and Jacques-Louis Potgieter. His stated aim is to stabilise USAP inside the top ten.
