About Rassie Erasmus
Rassie Erasmus returned to the Springboks head coach role in January 2024, having previously led South Africa to the 2019 Rugby World Cup title before moving into the director of rugby position for the 2023 tournament, which the Springboks also won. A former South Africa flanker, he coached the Free State Cheetahs and Munster and worked in high-performance roles at SA Rugby before taking the national job. In December 2025 SA Rugby extended his contract through to the 2031 Rugby World Cup, one of the longest commitments given to any international coach.
