About Richie Murphy
Richie Murphy took interim charge of Ulster in February 2024 following Dan McFarland’s departure and was confirmed permanently later that year. He is contracted through to 2028. Murphy came to the role from the Ireland set-up, where he had been kicking and skills coach, and from the Ireland under-20 side he led to a Grand Slam. In July 2026 Ulster added Joe Schmidt to the operation in a consultancy capacity.
