Scott Lawrence is head coach and General Manager of the USA Eagles men’s XVs, a dual remit that is unusual at Test level and tells you what the job actually is: building a programme, not just picking a team.
Born in October 1975, he was a flanker who won five caps for the Eagles in 2006, with club rugby at Halifax, Grand Rapids and Life University.
A career built inside the American game
Lawrence coached at Life University from 2004 to 2017, winning a national collegiate championship, and took the USA Under-20 side to the World Rugby U20 Trophy in 2012. He was Eagles defence coach across two spells, co-founded Major League Rugby’s Rugby ATL in 2020 as head coach and general manager, and reached the 2021 MLR final before stepping down. He was appointed interim Eagles head coach in January 2023 and confirmed permanently in February 2024.
