About Sean Everitt

Sean Everitt is the head coach of Edinburgh, a Sharks lifer turned Scottish club coach who has handed debuts to 27 Scottish players.

Sean Everitt is the head coach of Edinburgh Rugby, extended in January 2026 on a two-year deal running to the end of the 2027–28 season.

He is unusual among senior coaches in having no recorded professional playing career. He entered the game through the Sharks age-grade system and built his reputation entirely from the coaching side.

Fifteen years at the Sharks

Everitt spent 2007 to 2022 with the Cell C Sharks, starting as Currie Cup backline coach and progressing through the Under-19 and Under-21 head coach roles before becoming attack and backs coach for the Super Rugby side. He was Sharks head coach from 2019 to 2022, working with a group including Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, and stepped down in November 2022. He then consulted at the Bulls before moving to Scotland.

Edinburgh

He joined in July 2023 as Senior Coach and was named Head Coach in January 2024. He personally leads the attack, working alongside Robert Chrystie. He has handed senior debuts to 27 Scottish players, 13 of them straight from the academy — the clearest measure of what Edinburgh hired him to do.

Style

Everitt is known as a man-manager who builds attractive, expansive attacking sides. He has not won a trophy as a head coach at either club.

As a player A coach rather than a former professional player. He entered the Sharks system at age-grade level and has no recorded senior playing career or international caps.
