About Sébastien Piqueronies
Sébastien Piqueronies is the manager of Section Paloise, in post since May 2021 and contracted to 2027. The role is a hybrid of director of rugby and head coach.
Born in Aurillac in July 1978, his playing career was short and injury-truncated — youth rugby at Aurillac and in the Clermont academy, then Issoire, Gennevilliers and Toulouse before he retired at 25 with a recurring knee problem. He has no honours as a player.
A product of the French pathway
He is a pure development-system coach. He ran Toulouse’s Pôle Espoirs from 2007, moved to the Pôle France at Marcoussis, then took charge of France Under-17, Under-19 and finally Under-20 from 2018 — winning back-to-back World Rugby U20 Championships in 2018 and 2019. He was appointed head of the French federation’s youth pipeline in 2020 before Pau came calling.

He has turned Pau into a genuine top-six side, reaching the Top 14 play-offs in 2025–26 before losing at home to Racing 92. He has not yet won a trophy at club level.
