About Ugo Mola

Ugo Mola is the manager of Stade Toulousain and the most decorated coach in the modern French game. He led Toulouse to a fourth consecutive Top 14 title in June 2026, beating Montpellier 28–20 at the Stade de France, and is contracted to 2031.

Born in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande in May 1973, he was a wing and full-back for Blagnac, Toulouse, Dax and Castres, winning three French titles and the 1996 European Cup as a player. He won 12 France caps and played in the 1999 World Cup final, scoring a hat-trick against Namibia at that tournament.

Building the modern Toulouse

He coached at Mazamet, Castres, Brive and Albi before returning to Toulouse in 2015. What he built there is the most complete club side in Europe: a fast, offloading, high-tempo attacking game fed by the deepest academy pipeline in the sport, producing Antoine Dupont, Romain Ntamack and Anthony Jelonch.

Style

Mola is a man-manager and rotation specialist rather than a systems coach, and is openly sceptical of data-driven rugby — he trusts players and instinct. His contract carries a release clause allowing him to take the France job after the 2027 World Cup.
