Fabien Galthié was confirmed as France head coach in 2019 and took charge after that year’s Rugby World Cup, succeeding Jacques Brunel. One of the outstanding scrum-halves of his generation, he won 64 caps and captained France before moving into coaching with Stade Français, Montpellier and Toulon. Under Galthié France won the Grand Slam in 2022, ending a twelve-year wait for a Six Nations title, and they entered the 2026 championship as reigning champions defending their crown.
