About Patrice Collazo

Patrice Collazo is the head coach of Racing 92, the forwards specialist who arrived as a relegation firefighter and took the club to a Top 14 semi-final.

Patrice Collazo is the head coach of Racing 92, appointed permanently in May 2025 for two seasons after arriving mid-season as a firefighter.

Born in La Seyne-sur-Mer in April 1974, he was a loosehead prop for Bègles-Bordeaux, Toulon, Stade Français, Gloucester, Toulouse and Racing Métro. He won one France cap, against Romania in 2000, and two Heineken Cups as a Toulouse player.

La Rochelle and beyond

He made his name at Stade Rochelais between 2011 and 2018, taking the club up to the Top 14 in 2014 and establishing them as a top-six side. Spells followed at Toulon, Brive and Montpellier, the last of them another rescue job.

Racing

He arrived in February 2025 with Racing in relegation trouble after Stuart Lancaster’s dismissal, kept them up, and was made permanent. In 2025–26 Racing won nine of their last twelve, beat Pau away in the play-offs and reached the semi-finals before losing to Toulouse.

Style

A forwards man and an old-school motivator. He has said openly that he prioritised giving the club a soul and a mentality over tactical detail — which, on the evidence of the turnaround, worked.

As a player Loosehead prop. Begles-Bordeaux, Toulon, Stade Francais, Gloucester, Stade Toulousain and Racing Metro. One France cap, against Romania in 2000, and two Heineken Cups as a Toulouse player.
